8 May 2015: The Sofidel group selects Intergen for the best energy efficiency

The Sofidel Group is one of the main paper manufacturers in the world for hygiene and domestic use and is 6th in the world for production capacity in the tissue sector.

Due to the high electricity and heat consumption required by the production processes and for the purposes of rationalising the use of energy sources, with consequent cost savings and improvement of the environmental condition, the Group ordered two cogeneration plants from Intergen to install respectively at the production plants located in Bagni di Lucca (LU) and Monfalcone (GO).

These projects involve the creation of two high performance turnkey cogeneration plants of 1,560 kWe and 3,200 kWe, both equipped with methane MWM TCG 2020V16 and TCG 2032V12 engines, complete with a heat recovery from exhaust system for the production of steam, and with creation of all the heat exchanges to ensure the most efficient use of recovered energy in the form of hot water.

The two plants will be acceptance tested in the early months of 2016 and confirm Intergen as a reference company specialised in the design and manufacture of cogeneration plants in the paper industry, with 15 cogeneration plants installed in recent years, for a total electrical power of over 38 MWe.
